{"id":415,"date":"2016-01-02T15:53:47","date_gmt":"2016-01-02T15:53:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.houseontherockconcerts.com\/index.php\/2016\/01\/02\/favorite-albums-of-2015\/"},"modified":"2016-01-02T15:53:47","modified_gmt":"2016-01-02T15:53:47","slug":"favorite-albums-of-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.houseontherockconcerts.com\/index.php\/2016\/01\/02\/favorite-albums-of-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Favorite Albums of 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure class=\"tmblr-full\" data-orig-height=\"450\" data-orig-width=\"1800\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/64.media.tumblr.com\/bb5793576c18f8294281db9a577ae446\/tumblr_inline_o0c173trQe1s8lvwj_540.jpg\" data-orig-height=\"450\" data-orig-width=\"1800\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Here are our favorite albums released in 2015, including one from Jill Andrews whom we hosted in July.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/tree63.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tree63<\/a> \u2013 Land: \u00a0<\/b>Tree63 was a stalwart of the \u201cChristian music\u201d market a decade ago, but<br \/>\nnutrients are scarce in a shallow subculture, and the Tree eventually burnt<br \/>\nout. \u00a0They replanted after a seven year<br \/>\nhiatus in the deep soil of independence, producing and releasing <i>Land<\/i> through a kickstarter<br \/>\ncampaign. \u00a0They still sing about faith<br \/>\nbut are now free to explore it from many angles. \u00a0If you\u2019ve ever patiently lived with doubt,<br \/>\nyou may resonate with these songs. \u00a0If<br \/>\nyou appreciate soaring male vocals and upbeat rock and roll, you may enjoy<br \/>\nthese tunes. \u00a0I\u2019m two for two. \u00a0The CD is literally stuck in my truck\u2019s<br \/>\nplayer, and that\u2019s just fine with me.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/jillandrews.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jill Andrews<\/a> \u2013 The War Inside: \u00a0<\/b>I\u2019ve long appreciated Jill\u2019s smooth southern voice and thoughtful songwriting. \u00a0She has made a living in the Americana niche<br \/>\nfor a decade. \u00a0I was pleasantly surprised,<br \/>\nhowever, by the progressive production on <i>The<br \/>\nWar Inside<\/i>. \u00a0While I don\u2019t resonate deeply<br \/>\nwith all of the themes on this record, the fresh eclectic fusion of southern<br \/>\nand pop sounds is so good that I keep coming back to it.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sandramccracken.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sandra McCracken<\/a> \u2013 Psalms: \u00a0<\/b>These songs are reflections on biblical psalms, orchestrated, played, and sung<br \/>\nsoothingly by Sandra on piano and tracked live with a simple band. \u00a0The song \u201cSweet Comfort\u201d could have been the<br \/>\ntitle track, because sweet comfort is what this record evokes from beginning to<br \/>\nend. \u00a0When guests were in my house in<br \/>\n2015, I often chose to play this record as an essential stratum of a welcoming<br \/>\natmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidramirezmusic.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">David Ramirez<\/a> \u2013 Fables: \u00a0<\/b>I love an autobiographical artist as long as he tells the truth. \u00a0When the truth illuminates every word, there<br \/>\nis no glory in brokenness and grace eventually shines through. \u00a0David has chosen a path with some measure of mistakes,<br \/>\nwhich results in some honest pain being reflected in these songs, but there is<br \/>\na glimmer of hope, however fleeting, in stand-out track \u201cRock and a Hard<br \/>\nPlace.\u201d \u00a0\u201cMaybe I want to stare death in the<br \/>\nface. \u00a0Pound my chest and scream, \u2018I<br \/>\nain&rsquo;t afraid!\u2019 \u00a0Truth is I&rsquo;m beaten down<br \/>\nand broken from all the weight pushing me to trade my guilt for grace.\u201d \u00a0Thank God for that grace, and God bless David<br \/>\nRamirez. \u00a0His words mean a lot to me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here are our favorite albums released in 2015, including one from Jill Andrews whom we hosted in July.
